Stand For gives the young person a voice, to be heard by the people, services and institutions that have not been listening.
Our Process
No bureaucracy. No waiting list. No looking away.
We analyse the individual challenge, work with the young person to agree a resolution, and then support them in delivering the right outcome.
We start where the individual actually is, not where the system says they should be.
No two situations are the same. We listen first. We understand the full picture. Then we work out what action will move things and we move them.
Mentorship and support
Stand For mentors and where appropriate, provides financial support to help the young person move forward.
Resolution
We work with the young person to analyse their individual challenge, agree a resolution, and support them in delivering the right outcome.
A question we ask
In 1969 we put two men on the moon proving everything is possible if there is passion and commitment. So why do so many young people struggle to get help and support when they need it?

We believe
A fair chance is not a privilege.
Stand For exists to ensure that people get a chance. Not a guarantee, not a promise, not a free pass, just a CHANCE!!!
Nobody should be told they can’t be helped.
When the NHS told Jane Russell that her huge gallstone was inoperable, Neil recounted his man on the moon story! And guess what? Stand For found and paid for a Harley Street surgeon (we call him Buzz Lightyear!) who took on the challenge and fixed her years of chronic pain.
Nobody can help everybody, but everybody can help somebody.
Stand For are not administrators.
We are a small, focused team. We make calls. We write letters. We turn up to meetings. We stay in the room until the answer changes. That is the work.
What Stand For can and cannot do.
We are small. We are focused. We work case by case. We believe being honest about that is part of the work.
What we can do
- Listen to a young person’s situation properly, without judgement.
- Advocate where systems, services or institutions have failed them.
- Mentor and, where appropriate, provide financial support.
- Help build a case for a fairer outcome and stay with it.
- Treat every young person we work with as a whole person.
What we cannot do
- Replace statutory services such as the NHS, social services or safeguarding authorities.
- Take on every case. We are a small, focused team.
- Guarantee an outcome. Every situation is different.
- Operate as a crisis or emergency service. If a young person is in immediate danger, please contact the emergency services.
- Promise speed. We work properly. That sometimes takes time.
Empower and support, until the young person can move forward.
Every Stand For case ends the same way: with the young person at the centre, holding the outcome, stronger for the journey.
