Our commitment
Stand For supports young people aged 15 to 30. Every young person we work with is treated with dignity, listened to, and supported with care. Their voice and their consent are at the centre of every case.
What we can do
- Listen properly, without judgement.
- Advocate where systems, services or institutions have failed a young person.
- Mentor and, where appropriate, provide financial support.
- Help build a case for a fairer outcome, and stay with it.
What we cannot do
- Replace statutory services such as the NHS, social services, or safeguarding authorities.
- Take on every case. We are small, and we work properly with each young person we accept.
- Operate as a crisis or emergency service.
- Guarantee outcomes. Every situation is different.
If a young person is in immediate danger
Stand For is not a crisis service. If a young person is in immediate danger, please contact the emergency services (999 in the UK), or get in touch with a relevant safeguarding authority directly.
Suggesting a young person for consideration
If you would like to suggest a young person we may be able to support, please use the contact form. All suggestions are reviewed at our monthly young person review meeting. We respond personally to every enquiry.
Stories and consent
Every story published on the Stand For Family page, and every quote, is shared with the explicit consent of the young person and, where relevant, their family. Please respect their dignity and privacy when sharing or referencing their stories.
Governance
Stand For is a not-for-profit organisation trading as Stand For Ltd, registered at Halleggo Farm, Bissoe, Cornwall, TR4 8TD. Our founder, Neil Tregarthen, initially funded the work himself. We plan to bring new supporters into the work.
